Casey woke up at 5-30 am in the morning; she needed to prepare breakfast for her three children for school. The school session started at 7-30 am Monday to Friday. Sending them personally to their schools, she drove herself back to home sweet home at 8-30 am; she went to bed and continued her uncompleted sleeping session.
She woke up the second time in a day, every day the same old routine. Her husband already woke up at this time and he was packing the biscuits, cookies, sweats, cakes, pancakes and others. They had a mobile store for selling snacks at seven locations from one location to another location; it was from Monday to next Monday back to the same old location of last week.
The night market, it was one of the folk’s entertainment areas that they like to room around. Every residence area, there were a number of housing estate. One housing estate there may have one location allocated for night market stores operators. It was only allowed to operate at night and once a week. The location was to occupy a designated road. It may be one of the wider roads, empty space or lanes that there was having other alternative lanes or roads for vehicles to pass by. It was not in such a way to inconvenience the local nearby residence.
During the night, after the business activities, there was rubbish left over. The cleaning and clearing of the rubbish, it was done immediately the next morning.
The stores of the night market there were cater practically everything. Drinks of all favors, cooked food of Malay, Indian and Chinese favors, there were western cooked food, steak and burgers, cakes were baked on the sites, baking facility at the vehicle. There were fresh fisheries, vegetable, fruits of local and imported. There were groceries, there were apparels, there were appliances & electronics, there were home & garden, and there were flowers & gifts. Practically, it was an open air of hypermarket. Prices mostly were rocked but there were exceptions.
The stores were mostly foldable tables; goodies were displayed for viewing by the customers on the table. There were foldable racks and shelves for displaying apparels. Sugar cane juice was crushed from fresh pieces of sugar cane by grinder machine.
David and Casey, they had operated the mobile store for more than thirty years. They cater for snacks of local and imported. They didn’t mind working long hours, sometime ended at 11.00 pm; they were only homed, sometime 1.00am in the wee hours of morning. The most unwanted nights, it was the raining night. Sometime the god was very crazy, it started to rain for just few seconds and stopped for a few minutes and rained again. The covering up of the snacks by canvas became very tiring. Sometime the god was good to them, before heavy rain, telling them beforehand by lights and loud voice, taking no heed from him, the god may blow them vigorously.
Tonight was another night, no stars up there, David told Casey “Look like this is one of the crazy nights” Casey looked at the sky and she felt a bit chilly “Yes it is possible, no warnings whatsoever” David “come to think about it, it may had warn us the last few days” Casey looked at him waiting for answer. David said “Last few days, it was rained daytimes by the crazy pattern. May be that was the warning for tonight”
Casey said nothing but thinking “Should I strike a lottery, no need billions, half a million is enough to close store for good”
